High demands on clamping devices
Whichever system is used, the first requirement is that the workpieces can be clamped absolutely safely - without any risk of injury. If workpieces are not clamped properly or even held by hand, this can lead to serious injuries.
Quick and easy handling is just as important as the result itself: The workpieces must not deform at all or only slightly during clamping. All elements of the clamping device must also be easy to replace.

Clamping technology - efficient, safe, precise
Clamping technology means how the workpiece or tool is fastened in the first place, depending on the application: manually, mechanically, hydraulically or pneumatically. Clamping technology, which encompasses many types, is part of assembly technology and can thus be seen as the link between the table and the workpiece or between the machine spindle and the tool. This is the only way to ensure efficiency, safety and precision.
Each manufacturing process has different requirements in terms of size, shape, type of material, accuracy or even number of pieces. Accordingly, you need different clamping devices. The spectrum ranges from simple mechanically operated toggle clamps to magnetic clamping plates with movable magnetic poles.

A hydraulic clamping system consists of a pressure generator, control valves and clamping cylinders. Pressure is generated, for example, by means of hand pumps. The great advantage of hydraulic and pneumatic clamping devices is their versatility, coupled with high clamping force and low space requirements, as well as equally high clamping forces at all clamping points.

The future of clamping technology
Industry 4.0 will not be able to do without clamping equipment either. However, according to experts, digitalized and sensor-monitored clamping technology is not yet where it needs to be. After all, clamping devices are definitely closest to the workpiece being machined and could thus ideally provide information about the clamping condition and clamping force as well as wear.
